Skin Diseases

Your skin is the largest organ in your body. Although it only weighs between 6 and 9 lbs and covers about two square yards, your skin is your body’s main defense from the outside world. The skin, among other things, protects your body from bacteria and viruses, regulates your body temperature and determines whether your environment is hot or cold, wet or dry.

Allergies, environmental irritants and/or pollutants, certain pre-existing conditions, immune system disorders, excessive exposure to the sun as well as genetic factors, even aging, can play a role in whether your skin gets sick or not.
